What a busy week it’s been! Henry has been progressing greatly since he came home 3 weeks ago! Our latest walk was just over 1.5 miles, and Henry was not ready to quit when we got back to the driveway. He was housetrained when we got him, but beyond that, the poor guy didn’t know much else. He now knows sit, stay (although he isn’t a big fan of it!), lay down, and is starting to figure out the whole walking on a leash thing. He’s got quite a big personality, and we all love him so much already!
Saturday morning, a canine rehabilitation specialist (Tiffany) came out to our house to look at Henry. He had an awful lot of tightness in the amputated limb. It was very tight to his chest, and also tight in the shoulder. She showed us different massages and ways to move the limb to ease the tightness and make it a bit more comfortable for him. Over the past few weeks, we had noticed that his right rear leg (kitty corner from his amputated limb) turns in a bit when he walks, and it is more pronounced when he is tired. We discussed this with Tiffany, and she noted that the turning in was actually a minor limp, and that the leg was tight on the hip and inner and outer thigh. Tiffany thought that this needed further investigation from our vet and that it may be due to a minor tear or fracture in that leg, which is certainly possible as we don’t know exactly what happened to him. With all of the other injuries he has, we assume he was hit by a vehicle. We will be visiting the vet sometime soon to figure out what exactly is going on with that rear leg!
After spending time with the rehab specialist, getting massaged, and doing some exercises on the FitPaws pods and exercise peanut, Henry, Bailey, and fur-cousin Nessie went to get a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus at our local humane society! I don’t have the photo back just yet, but will post it as soon as I get it!
We got about 7 inches of snowfall Saturday afternoon and overnight, so when we woke up Sunday morning, Henry got to experience his first true snowfall. Bailey certainly showed him how to enjoy it!!
Sunday evening, we went over to my parents’ house to watch the Packer game. Henry got to hang out with Bailey, Nessie, and my parents’ cocker spaniels: Marley and Phoebe. Henry has become a die-hard Packer fan and wore his new Packer shirt for the first time. It must be a lucky shirt, because we got to watch a great win, which was much needed this season!
Awe Henry, sounds like you scored big with your Momma! keep wearing that shirt. I happen to know there are quite a few Packer fans on this site!
Awe ..He looks great! Our Murphy also loves to run in the snow. I think he realizes that when he falls, it’s not quite such a hard fall as when there’s no snow on the ground. lol

Pups in the snow are so funny! Henry has taken to flopping his head/amputated side into the snow when he pees so he only has to hold himself up with his back legs. He accidentally fell the first time, but it was apparently so convenient he’s been doing it ever since! 😁
Huge grin plastered across my face!! Loving these pictures and loving this entire update!!
And that snow video…pure BLISS!!! Two dogs enjoying each other, living in the moment and frolicking with such joy and happiness!! LOOOOOVE IT!!
And Henry all snuggled in his bed knowing he has found the best home ever!!
And the three of em all lined up to watch THE Packers is just precious!! GO PACK (and Brett Favre will always be my hero)!!
Can’t wait to see the Santa photos! 🙂
Still grinning!!
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
PS. Front leggers take a real pounding on their remaining front legs. So make sure he takes LOTS of rest stops on those long walks.
Bailey is such a good role model for Henry!
